Relationship of Agitation and Aggression in Alzheimers disease (AD) and MCI Lead Investigator: Paula Trzepacz Institution : Eli Lilly and Company E-Mail : PTT@lilly.com Proposal ID : 133 Proposal Description: Abstract: A limited literature using various neuroimaging methods and post-mortem data suggests that fronto-limbic neuropathology of gray and/or white matter is associated with greater agitation and aggression in AD. Behavioral problems are especially difficult to manage, lead to caregiver distress and hasten institutionalization. Specific Aims: Analyze data from the NPI-Q items related to agitation and aggression symptom severity in MCI and AD groups and determine which MRI ROI volumes and/or cortical thickness measures s are most associated with greater behavioral symptom severity, after preselecting a subset of ROIs [Freesurfer?]. Compare functional neuroimaging relationships for fMRI for relationship to behaviors.
